About

AshtangaDiary.com is my personal record of experiences, events and observations during my practice of Ashtanga yoga. I write as a novice student of this beautiful art form, detailing my highs and lows, joys and frustrations, tranquil moments and difficulties.

Ashtanga is derived from 2 Sanskrit words; ashta meaning eight and anga meaning limb. Ashtanga yoga is a form of Hatha yoga involving the amalgamation of asana, bandha, ujjayi breathing, drishti and vinyasa.

Diary is a record of experiences, events and observations.

Favourite asana: Baddha Konasana. I feel especially at ease and comfortable in this asana, especially in the 8th vinyasa. It’s also a signal to me during my practice that the most difficult areas are over and shavasana is coming up soon.

Struggling with: Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana. For the time being. See me whinge in this post.

Technical Aspects

Ashtanga Diary is powered by WordPress, a free personal publishing platform that’s highly customizable and easy to use.

The design of Ashtanga Diary was inspired by the lotus flower you see on the top right of the page, an image I found from iStockphoto.com. It took me about a day to come up with the final design and put it into practice using xHTML and CSS.

Ashtanga Diary is best viewed on , a free web browser that’s higly customizable and follows the W3C web standards better than other internet browser.

If you would like more information about the technical aspects of this blog (or even just to say hello), please feel free to contact me.

Namaste,
Sue Zann
