I suprise myself on occassions…
I actually got up at 6:30 am! Ok, so it was really 6:45 am because I spent 15 minutes debating with myself whether to get up and practice or sleep in just a bit. The good Sue won this morning and even though it was a little on the chilly side, I got dressed and yoga-ed. Mind you, I didn’t do much today because I just didn’t have it in me physically. I was sore and I was so, so, so weak.
I’ve been told not to be so hard on myself recently, not specifically in yoga, but in general. So as I was monitoring myself during this morning’s practice, I noticed how much I was struggling yet determined I was to do my practice, even though I wasn’t happy doing it. So for once I listened to my body and mind and “cut [my-]self some slack”. I did sun salutations then the three closing lotus poses and that’s it. Ok, so that’s not it, I had a bit of play-yoga after a short shavasana, just a headstand and marychi C.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the hypertonic right butt muscle is back. I’m not doing something right and it’s resurfaced again. I think it’s from over-using my butt muscle (most likely piriformis, maybe… I don’t know) but how do I figure out the culprit? I think it’s utthita hasta padangushtasana, but I can’t be sure. I haven’t done any primary series yet, just sun sals, standing and finishing so it has to be limited to asanas in those sections. I’m almost certain it’s something in the standing postures. Oh well, I guess I have to pay even more attention to my body to figure this one out.

Hi Sue! Welcome back to yoga practice.
I hope you are recovering and managing to enjoy yourself nonetheless. I’ve had several injuiries myself - having to stop and re-start practice is frustrating, but it all comes back - don’t worry! Sending good vibes to you and warm wishes for a quick recovery.
Thanks Sally. I’m definitely enjoying practice either way.
Hi,
I found your diary while I was trying to figure out how I should write in my own new blog. I started reading at your beginning and I haven’t gotten to the injury yet but I’m glad you’re back in action.
