Oh the joy…
of learning something new.
Still can’t do the roley-poley thing in garba pindasana by myself. I slipped off the mat again. I can do it with the smallest amount of help, but when it comes to doing it by myself, it feels like I have no chance. I get to the third roll around, slip off my mat and fall onto my (left) side with my arms stuck between my lotus legs. Yes, an elegant and attractive look.
I think it could be sweat slippage. Maybe I need to start bring in a towel again to lay down for some traction.
Mondays are relatively quiet in class. Plenty of room to stretch, which was nice. I even managed to get my hands on a spray bottle… yay!
And now for the daily “this and that hurts” whinge: My oblique abdominals, hip flexors and thighs hurt.

Do you reckon this is a bit of a balance as well? I had the same problem. I also slipped out of it a few times due to sweat and my shoulders giving up. I resolved this kind of by using bandha and abs a lot more and it seems to work, keeping me compact and able to “steer” more easily. It’s suprisingly hard!
Definitely some balance involved. I’ve fallen over just getting my arms through!
I was told to breathe into my bandhas, I don’t know if that’s my problem, I seem to be able to roll up and down quite well and even get decent twisting in. It’s just that I slip the moment my shoulder or ass is off the mat and onto the bare floor, then I lose momentum, fall on my side, look like a fool (who doesn’t in this pose?!), ask for help and start again.
it’s the bandhas and the breath…both key for rolling and keeping the balance in garba pindasana …in the end it is always the bandhas and the breath…;)
